Workforce & Attendance

Track direct and subcontracted workers across sites — daily attendance, trade breakdown, and payroll inputs.

The core idea

Pranaalika Nirman supports two kinds of workforce:

  • Direct workers — employed by your organization, attendance against your payroll
  • Vendor / subcontractor workers — employed by another organization (a subcontractor) but working on your site; attendance still needs tracking for billing reconciliation

Both flows live in the Workforce module, and the data feeds into your payroll inputs and your vendor billing review.

Setting up workers

Go to Workers from the navigation. You can add workers manually or import from CSV. For each worker, capture:

  • Name and contact
  • Trade / skill (mason, carpenter, electrician, plumber, fitter, helper, etc.)
  • Skill level (skilled, semi-skilled, unskilled)
  • Daily wage rate (used for payroll inputs and labor cost reporting)
  • Vendor / subcontractor (if not a direct employee)
  • Aadhaar or government ID (optional, for compliance)

Daily attendance

Attendance is marked per site, per day. The site supervisor opens Attendance from the project, picks the date, and marks present / absent / half-day for each worker.

On the mobile app, the supervisor can also mark attendance with a photo — useful for vendor billing disputes later.

Vendor attendance

For subcontracted teams, vendor attendance is marked at the trade-and-count level rather than per individual worker. For example, "8 masons, 3 carpenters from Vendor X today."

At month-end, vendor attendance reconciles against the vendor's bill — the system shows your records vs the vendor's claim. Disputes become visible early.

Trade breakdown

Every attendance record tags the trade and skill level. This lets you generate reports like:

  • How many masons did we have on Block A this week vs last week?
  • What is our trade-mix across the portfolio?
  • How many skilled-vs-unskilled worker days did we use in November?

The AI Assistant can answer these queries directly. The Labor Report (AI-generated) summarizes them.

Payroll inputs

Pranaalika Nirman does not run payroll. We give your finance team or payroll software a clean monthly export of:

  • Worker days worked (per worker, per site)
  • Trade-wise summary
  • Wage rate applied
  • Gross amount

Your existing payroll system (Tally, Zoho Books, in-house, etc.) takes it from there. We keep the audit trail of what attendance records produced each payroll input.

Why we do not run payroll
Indian payroll has strong regional and statutory complexity (PF, ESIC, bonus, regional minimum wages, gratuity). Building a full payroll engine would distract us from construction-specific value. We focus on giving payroll systems clean inputs.

Vendor billing review

At month-end, go to Vendor Attendance → Reconcile. You see, per vendor:

  • Your attendance records (trade-wise count per day)
  • The vendor's claimed bill (uploaded as PDF or entered manually)
  • Variance highlighted automatically

Approve, dispute, or adjust before signing off on the bill.

Photos and proof

Group photos taken at attendance time are a powerful dispute resolver. Encourage your supervisors to upload a quick group photo of workers on site at the start of the shift — it lives against that day's attendance record.

Common questions

Can workers mark their own attendance?

Not yet. Attendance today is marked by supervisors on behalf of workers. Self-attendance (with photo verification, optional location tag) is on our roadmap.

What about overtime?

Overtime hours can be logged per worker per day along with the attendance entry. The system tags overtime separately so your payroll system can apply your overtime policy.

How does this integrate with DPRs?

Each DPR records the labor that was on site that day (trade-wise count) — automatically pulled from the attendance you marked. You do not have to re-enter it.

What is next

  • Inventory Tracker — material consumption is often tied to specific labor crews
  • AI Reports — generate a Labor Report for any project or period
  • Project Hub — assign supervisors and engineers to specific sites
